Capital Project Description: Valley ES was originally constructed in 1967, with a small addition in 1974. No other significant renovations have been completed in nearly 50 years. The Board of Education approved the feasibility study recommendation to replace the school on the current site. The new school will include bid alternates for additional education spaces (2 special ed classrooms), a computer data center, a bus parking lot on site, and a cooperative Parks & Recreation gym. VES is being designed with a state rated capacity of 745 students. The state funding for this project will come from Built to Learn funds designated for Frederick County through legislation. A MOU between the Maryland Stadium Authority, the Board of Education, and Frederick County Government will outline the timing of funding. The County is required to provide local matching funds only.
