Capital Project Description: Thurmont Elementary School (ES) serves students in third through fifth grade with a Facility Condition Index (FCI) of 32%, classified as critical. FCPS completed a facility and program assessment of Thurmont Elementary to determine opportunities for a limited renovation to extend the life of the building. In October 2020, the Board of Education (BOE) voted to proceed with a limited renovation at Thurmont ES. The project is expected to be completed during the summer of ¶ and will include enclosing the ³ open-space ´ portion of the building, addressing security needs, aligning spaces with current educational specifications, upgrading the HVAC system and completing other energy-efficient upgrades and touch ups to building interiors.
