Capital Project Description: In 2006, DFRS had a CIP project to install Emergency Generators in all the fire stations in the county that did not have one. There were 16 generators installed as part of the CIP Project and 13 fire stations had generators installed prior to the CIP Project. Because of the age of the generators and Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS), part have become obsolete or difficult to obtain. The manufacturer of the generators installed in the majority of the fire stations have gone out of business. The size of the generators installed in the fire stations vary based on the electrical needs of the facility. DFRS prefers the generators to be diesel powered with a run-time capacity of 72 hours at full load. This project can be spread over several years.
