Capital Project Description: This project involves the annual purchase and/or relocation of portable classrooms. Frederick County Public Schools currently utilizes 109 county-owned standard portable classrooms, one state-owned 4-classroom unit, and 44 county- owned portable buildings repurposed for specialized spaces (resource, pull-out, office, restrooms, cafeteria, storage, and specials). Projections for 2025/2026 indicate a need for approximately 87 county-owned standard portables, the continued use of the state-owned unit, and 48 specialized portable buildings. These figures reflect adjustments due to school replacement projects. Given the age of many units, some exceeding 30 years, a portion of this budget is allocated for replacements.
