Capital Project Description: Hillcrest ES was constructed in 1988 and received an addition in 1990 and qualifies for a limited renovation due to its age and facility condition index. Like other limited renovation projects, the Hillcrest ES limited renovation is expected to improve five or more building systems as well as the educational environment for students within the entire 62,305 sf building. The scope of the project will include the renovating the existing 12-classroom portable unit at the school and incorporate that unit into the building. Funds from the City of Frederick, from school mitigation fees paid by developers that do not satisfy the school adequacy provisions of the City’s Adequate Public Facilities Ordinance, will be applied to the portable unit renovation, with County-only funding for all remaining aspects of the project.
