Capital Project Description: This project is for the construction of a 0.37 mile long roadway, including a bridge crossing, connecting Ed McClain Road to MD 75. Traffic volumes on Ed McClain Road have increased significantly due to adjoining developments. The 2019 ADT was 2,551 vehicles per day. The southern portion of Ed McClain Road has been improved through developer funded projects to accommodate the increased traffic. Improvements to the northern portion of Ed McClain Road are not feasible due to right-of-way constraints and challenging topography. An east-west connector was envisioned in the development plans to mitigate traffic volume increases on the northern portion of Ed McClain Road. Due to various issues, including the inability to secure the necessary right-of-way on the originally-planned alignment, the east-west connector was not built concurrent with development. This project includes design, land acquisition, and construction phases for the east west connector to be constructed on an alternate alignment. The project is funded through a combination of developer and County funding sources.
