Capital Project Description: In 1979 the Town of Brunswick acquired a building, located at 12 East A Street, to be utilized as a “ focal point for the elderly in the area. ” During the past 44 years, the 1,000 sq ft. building has been the site of countless activities, programs, and special events which have served the community well! However, over the years, the senior population has grown, along with the demand for services that promote an individual ’ s ability to remain active, healthy and in the community. In order to address the needs of senior population in Brunswick and to provide programs and services that are easily accessible, the below CIP has been submitted. The goal of Division of Aging and Independence is to ensure that an array of senior specific services is available to meet the physical, educational, emotional, and social needs of individuals as they age in their preferred community, and a new senior center will make this goal a reality. In FY24 there is funding for a study for this project.
