Capital Project Description: The 18,000 sq. foot previous house of worship, located at 1440 Taney Avenue, was built in 1983, and was home to the Maranatha Church of God. In 2002 the Board of County Commissioners of Frederick County purchased the property. After minor renovations, the church was repurposed as the Frederick County Department of Aging, now known as the Senior Services Division, and Frederick Senior Center. Due to the age of the building, significant upgrades are required in order to ensure continued sustainability. Areas of greatest concern include the replacement and/or upgrade of the HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, which will require renovations throughout the facility.
