Capital Project Description: Yellow Springs ES is approximately 52,600 gross square feet and was originally constructed in 1957 with additions in 1966 and 1974. The building and has a state rated capacity (SRC) of 453. A feasibility study was completed, in September 2022, and the Board of Education approved the replacement of the Yellow Springs ES. This project will construct the replacement school at a site in the Tuscarora Creek subdivision, near Walter Martz Road and Christopher ’ s Crossing, in the City of Frederick. The replacement Yellow Springs ES will have a new 745 SRC and is anticipated to relieve capacity issues and utilize a new prototype design. The former site of the Yellow Springs ES will be demolished, once the new school is operational, and the site will be retained by the Board of Education for future needs in the area.
