FY2023 Adopted Budget Capital Improvement Program

Board of Education In addition to the additional seats needed, the Board of Education has prepared an evaluation of older schools and compiled a listing of schools in need of renovation. The Board has attempted to balance the need for new seats with renovation of older schools to ensure equity of facilities for all school communities. These projects are now listed under the Limited Renovations Project and the first two projects being identified as the Thurmont Elementary School and Monocacy Elementary School. The priority listing is arranged by level and is included in the Educational Facilities Master Plan. Using the priority listing prepared by the Board, additional projects will be added as funding permits in the future. Several projects were funded with a new state funding source, Built to Learn. This funding went to Waverley ES, Brunswick ES, Green Valley ES, and Valley ES and advanced the repayment of County forward funding or accelerated the timeline of these projects.
