Board of Elections Mission Statement
The Frederick County Board of Elections is committed to providing all eligible citizens of the County convenient access to voter registration; to provide all registered voters accessible locations in which they may exercise their right to vote; to promote fair and equitable elections; and to maintain registration records and other election-related data accurately and in a form that is accessible to the public.
The Board of Elections conducts county, state, and federal elections. It is responsible for maintaining voter registration; selecting early voting locations and polling places; hiring and training election judges; administration of the nursing home and correctional programs; and receiving candidate filings and petitions. In January of 2023, our offices were relocated to 8490 Progress Drive, Frederick MD, 21701. This new location and increased amount of space and updated work areas for staff will provide a
better customer service environment for our Frederick County voters and allows us to add additional security measures, as well as add more quality control to our processes in our ongoing effort to improve our operations. Currently, there are over 201,000 registered voters in the County.

Extending Voter Outreach Frederick County’s expanding voter registration will drive voter outreach and education efforts throughout the County. We will extend our outreach at community events, including Frederick Pride and In the Street. We look to grow our partnerships with Frederick County Public Schools to provide voter registration and election judge recruitment opportunities. We will continue to train citizen voter registration volunteers, either individually or as part of community organizations. Enhancing Mail-in Voting
Permanent Mail-in Ballot Voters
Mail-in voting has increased significantly since 2018, in part due to the changes driven by the COVID-19 Pandemic in 2020, and the newly available Permanent Mail-in Voter List, which
2022 2024

allows voters to request automatically receiving their county, state and federal ballot by mail. These changes continue to drive the goal to enhance the process and efficiency improvements to better serve the voters of Frederick County. We have added 2 additional Drop Box Locations for the 2024 Election cycle, bringing the total number to 10 within the county.
