Health Insurance

Health Insurance The Health Insurance Fund is an internal service fund for premiums collected within county departments. These funds are redistributed to the health insurance fund for eventual payment of claims and administrative fees.

The FY25 budget is consistent with the FY24 individual rates but the number of employees has increased and the mix of premium type has also changed. Therefore, both the charges for services and benefit expense have increased. Starting in FY25, a new health care benefit will be available to employees with the outcome of overall reduced medical costs in the long-term. A one-time contribution from the General Fund is proposed as the new benefit program is established. All personnel budgets have been updated to reflect changes in salaries and benefits based on proposed adjustments, contracts, individual benefit elections, tax laws, etc.
