Accounting Department
The Accounting Department is responsible for the analysis, interpretation, and presentation of the County's financial position and results of operations through timely, accurate, and professional financial reports.
These reports provide public assurance as to the accountability and integrity of the use of County resources; adherence to budgetary policies established by management; and compliance with Federal, State, and County mandates. The Department prepares the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report as well as other standardized and specialized reports. This Department also provides high quality, timely service to County departments through analysis and technical assistance. Accounts Payable is responsible for timely and accurate payments to vendors for goods and services provided to the County. Payroll is responsible for managing and maintaining the County’s payroll system and assuring that employees are paid accurately and timely.
Treasury Department
The Treasury Department serves as a primary provider of person-to-person customer service to County residents. The Treasurer is responsible for the collection and deposit of all County monies, in essence functioning as a banking operation. All of the County’s account s receivable billing is done by the Treasury Department. This includes County, State, and Municipal real estate tax bills which are prepared, verified, and issued from the Treasury Department.
The Treasury Department also collects water/sewer bills, permit and planning fees, and landfill bills; issues dog and cat licenses; sells Transit bus passes; and certifies all real property transfers including the collection of recordation taxes. In addition, the Treasurer is the County’s Investment Officer and handles the investment of County funds in a manner that will provide the maximum safety of principal while meeting the daily cash flow needs of the County. All investments are in conformance with the County’s Investment Policy and State law. The Treasurer is also responsible for the daily cash management of the County as well as managing the County’s banking relationship and merchant card services.
