Capital Project Description: The Richard W. Kanode Farm Park property was donated to Frederick County by way of a Life Estate bequeathment. As part of this parkland dedication, a Memorandum of Understanding was executed between Mr. Kanode and Frederick County that this property would only be used for agricultural and equestrian activities in perpetuity. This would also be consistent with the Agricultural Preservation Easement that encumbers a majority of the property. In keeping with Mr. Kanode ’ s wishes, the initial development of this park will include a entrance road and driveway to accommodate two-way traffic, various upgrades and improvements to existing farm buildings, provide an indoor and outdoor equestrian riding rink, equestrian trails, roadway/parking lot, public utilities and landscaping.
