Capital Project Description: Project proposed will provide hardware, software and services to convert the County's Motorola ASTRO public safety radio system backhaul from a synchronous optical network (SONET) to a multi-protocol layer switching (MPLS) network. Scheduled replacement/upgrade of Motorola radio system NEC OC-3 microwave back-haul equipment originally acquired in 2010 with P25 radio system. Will refresh and expand power supply system to accommodate power demands for testing and live cutover to new system with old system still operational. The MPLS portion of this project was accelerated with savings from MD 9-1-1 Trust Fund cost recovery in FY23. FY26 project would replace/upgrade remaining microwave network equipment.
