General Government This category includes several different areas of government, such as public safety (fire, police, and emergency management), public libraries, senior centers, technology projects and the Courthouse. Below is a highlight of major projects. This can include new facilities and equipment and projects that focus on maintaining assets. Fire/Rescue

x Fire Stations – Construction funding for a new station in the Green Valley/Monrovia area is scheduled in FY25. A replacement station for Carroll Manor is planned to receive funding for construction in FY26. Renovations of Westview Fire Station #31 in FY25 will help resolve space issues. This station was the first County built station. Design funding for a new fire station in the Jefferson Tech development is scheduled for FY29. A feasibility study to determine the renovation potential of Spring Ridge Fire Station is scheduled for FY29. x Funding for renovations of Tilco Drive for Fire Marshall staff is scheduled for FY25.

x Public Safety Training Facility – Additional construction funding based on engineer’s estimate for consolidated storage and additional indoor training space for recruits is scheduled for FY25. A driving training course is scheduled to receive funding for design in FY27. x On-going replacements of self-contained breathing apparatus and Hazmat team meters are programed as the “useful life” expires x Apparatus and Vehicle Replacement – this project will allow the county to establish a plan to replace Fire/Rescue apparatus x Emergency Generator Replacement – will replace outdated and obsolete generators in the Fire Stations to be completed over several years x Fire Service Water Supply locations – this project will fund the construction of an underground 30,000 gallon cistern periodically to ensure water is readily available in rural areas for firefighting purposes, as well as funding for maintenance of several “dry” hydrants Sheriff’s Office x Sheriff’s Office Mobile Date Terminal (MDT) Replacements – Periodic replacement of MDTs, which are used by patrol personnel to ensure secure and efficient operations x Sheriff’s Department District Office – District station to be built in the Urbana, New Market/Linganore and Green Valley area to meet demands resulting from growth and development with design funding scheduled in FY27 x Sheriff’s Office Dell Isilon Upgrade – This project periodically replaces aging hardware and increases storage for evidence Communications x Public safety communications site systemics – This project provides resources to carry out public safety system maintenance and upgrade work at the County’s 13 communication towers and/or dispatch sites not covered by other projects x County radio system upgrade to MPLS – This project will provide hardware, software, and services to convert the County’s radio system to a multi-protocol layer switching (MPLS) network in FY28 x Portable Radio Replacement – This project funds periodic replacement of the County’s portable and mobile subscriber radio fleet to ensure reliable performance x Radio System Improvements – This project will double the capacity of the County radio system and improve overall system reliability. Funding is scheduled for FY26 Westview Fire Station #31
