Capital Project Description: This project allows for a major renovation of the C. Burr Artz Library in downtown Frederick. Built in 2002, the current 65K SF facility houses 20K SF of space for the systems ’ Administrative offices. It serves as the central branch, welcoming just under 400K customers each year. In order to maximize public space, this renovation should occur after construction of a new North Frederick facility which will move the Administrative offices out of their current location allowing all 65K SF for public use. This renovation will include: updates to the exterior of the building, a complete transformation to the interior layout and finishes, and new mechanical and electrical systems.
