Capital Project Description: The FY24 funding is decreased in the CIP due to utilizing another funding source in FY23. The other funding provided complete funding for the body worn cameras. Maryland Senate Bill 71 requires that all Maryland law enforcement agencies use body-worn cameras by each law enforcement officer employed by the law enforcement agency who regularly interacts with the public. The body worn camera has to be in force no later than July 1, 2025. Therefore, the cameras need to be purchased in FY2023 to ensure that all the requirements of the legislation are in place, which include policies and procedures. The Sheriff ’ s Office will have a body worn camera available to all sworn personnel. This program will include officers from Thurmont Police Department & Brunswick Police Department.
