Maintaining the roadway network in sound condition is essential to transportation mobility and safety. Roads and bridges are two major components of transportation infrastructure. The County owns and maintains 222 bridges, which are defined as crossings with a total span length of 20 feet or greater. OTE also conducts biennial safety inspections on two bridges that are maintained by the Division of Parks and Recreation.

Categories of bridge condition or health are good, fair, and poor. A bridge in the poor category may be safe but require repair or replacement in the near future.
