Senior Services Division 7KH 'LYLVLRQ RI 6HQLRU 6HUYLFHV LV )UHGHULFN &RXQW\¶V ³RQH - VWRS VKRS´ IRU SURJUDPV DQG VHUYLFHV WKDW DVVLVW ROGHU DGXOWV their families, caregivers and veterans to age in place with dignity and independence. The Division has three areas of focus: Home and Community Connections (Community Services), Resource and Service Navigation (Client Services) and Operations, and is positioned to FKDPSLRQ WKH QHHGV RI )UHGHULFN &RXQW\¶V JURZLQJ VHQLRU SRSXODWLRQ Vision Statement That all Frederick County residents are empowered, engaged and equipped to live their best life. As the designated ORFDO $UHD $JHQF\ RQ $JLQJ $$$ WKH 'LYLVLRQ¶V SULPDU\ SXUSRVH LV WR KHOS ROGHU DGXOWV DQG SHRSOH with disabilities live safely in their homes and communities with independence and dignity. The Division helps plan, develop, coordinate and deliver a wide range of long-term services and supports which promote the dignity and enrichment of life for persons over 50 years old.

The Division is designated as the Maryland Access Point (MAP) for Frederick County. MAP is a trusted source of information and assistance for Frederick County residents who need or want to plan for their immediate and future needs. MAP serves adults 50 years and older, adults 18 years and older who have a disability, veterans, family members and other caregivers, and health or business professionals.

The Senior Services Division is making plans for the April 2022 reopening of senior centers to the public. Although programs and services continued and grew throughout the pandemic, and many activities were held virtually, the opportunity to hold in person activities is a long awaited moment of celebration. To ensure the successful senior center launch, specifics concerning hours of operation, calendar of activities and program registration, can be found on the 'LYLVLRQ¶V ZHEVLWH 'XH WR LWV RYHUZKHOPLQJ SRSXODULW\ WKH YLUWXDO VHQLRU FHQWHU ZKLFK KDV EHFRPH WKH 'LYLVLRQ¶V ILIWK senior center, will continue to host on-line classes featuring education, personal enrichment, socialization, and health and fitness classes. Nutrition programs, which grew exponentially during the pandemic, will continue to provide meals directly to recipients. Maryland Access Point, health insurance counseling, caregiver and case management assistance staff have, and will, continue to support older adults living in the community. The Senior Services Division remains active and committed to serving older adults and individuals with disabilities, so that they can remain at home, healthy and hopeful. Services available include:

x Caregiver Support for families and others who provide care, support and supervision of older adults with chronic health conditions. x A virtual senior center started in response to the pandemic, which enables participatory interaction with classes and activities that occur (real time) in the senior centers so people FDQ SDUWLFLSDWH IURP KRPH ,W LV QRZ WKH 'LYLVLRQ¶V ILIWK senior center. x Four full service senior centers provide a variety of opportunities for education, personal enrichment, socialization, and health and fitness for adults age 50+.
