Capital Project Description: The Division of Fire & Rescue Services is requesting this funding to increase the security of the Knox Lock System. This system has been in place county-wide dating back to 1987, made up of more than 3500 key operated rapid access boxes, locks and other devices all keyed alike and installed on buildings and properties throughout the county and city. There are approximately 150 Fire and Rescue vehicles that carry a key to access these devices. With this hard key system there is no means available to audit when devices are accessed which creates security concerns for businesses required to install them, and there may be no way of knowing when a key is removed or missing from a vehicle outside of a physical audit of these vehicles. This project include the purchase of ³ KeySecure ´ devices for vehicles and eLock cores to replace the standard key cylinders in existing Knox boxes.
